Report Commander 2.7 download

Thank you for your interest in Report Commander. Please review the system requirements before downloading.

The same software installation package is used for both evaluation and licensed users of the software. If you do not have a license, you can use the software for 30 days in evaluation mode.

If you have an evaluation copy installed, you do not need to reinstall when you purchase a license. You will receive a license key with instructions for activating your installed copy.

Known Issues

A list of known problems with the current release is available here.

Functionality and Support Limitations

Report Commander is dependent on software components provided by SAP (the makers of Crystal Reports). This dependency limits our ability to offer new features and resolve many issues. More information.

Evaluation Version Limitations

If you do not have a license for Report Commander, you may evaluate Report Commander for free for up to 30 days. In evaluation mode, Report Commander will display an evaluation reminder dialog box each time it is run. If you want to test Report Commander in an automated environment, you can obtain a temporary license to eliminate the evaluation dialog.

Upgrading from Report Commander 2.x

This release is a free update for users of any previous Report Commander 2.x version. Download the appropriate installer below and run it to update your current installation.

See the Release Notes for information on changes in this update.

Upgrading from Report Commander 1.x

Installing Report Commander 2 will not uninstall Report Commander 1.x: you can run both versions on the same computer to support parallel testing. If you no longer need version 1.x, you can uninstall it before or after installing version 2.

Important: Report Commander 2 is installed to a different folder than Report Commander 1. If you have batch files, scheduled tasks, etc., that point to the old location, you will need to either

  • Modify the path to Report Commander in all affected places, or
  • Uninstall Report Commander 1 and install Report Commander 2 to the old location.

See the Backward Compatibility topic in the user guide for more information.

Upgrading your License

Report Commander 2 requires a new license: version 1 licenses are not valid for version 2. When you install Report Commander 2, you can run the software in evaluation mode for 30 days before purchasing or upgrading a license.

If your Report Commander license is covered by a Support and Maintenance subscription, it has been upgraded to version 2 and you will find your new license(s) waiting for you in your license account.

If your license is not covered by a Support and Maintenance subscription, you can purchase an upgrade in the online store.

Once you have a version 2 license, run the Report Commander License Manager tool (installed with the software) or choose the Activate Software option when prompted during installation. The license activation wizard will use your License Account Number to find the correct license for the computer. If you are moving the software to a new computer, see this article for more information.

32-Bit and 64-Bit Versions

Report Commander 1.x ran as a 32-bit application on 64-bit systems, requiring that you install the 32-bit version of any database drivers required for your reports.

Beginning with version 2, Report Commander is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. On 64-bit platforms you can install either the 64-bit or 32-bit version:

  • If you install the 64-bit version, you will need to use the 64-bit versions of any required database drivers, and configure ODBC aliases required for your reports using the 64-bit ODBC control panel. This is the recommended configuration, unless you require drivers that do not work with 64-bit applications.
  • If you install the 32-bit version, you will need to use the 32-bit versions of any required database drivers, and configure ODBC aliases required for your reports using the 32-bit ODBC control panel.

  • Use this version on 32-bit or 64-bit systems.

If you install the 32-bit version on a 64-bit system you will need to use the 32-bit versions of any required database drivers, and configure ODBC aliases required for your reports using the 32-bit ODBC control panel.

Note: Generally you should use this version even on 64-bit operating systems. Because most versions of the Crystal Reports application only run as 32-bit, you are likely to be using 32-bit drivers and ODBC aliases already.

  • You will need to use the 64-bit versions of any required database drivers, and configure ODBC aliases required for your reports using the 64-bit ODBC control panel. This installer will not run on 32-bit systems.

Note: We recommend you use this version only if you know you need support for 64-bit database drivers. In most cases, the 32-bit version will be more suitable, as you are more likely to have 32-bit database drivers installed to support Crystal Reports.
