Symptoms

The adTempus service fails to start. The adTempus diagnostic logs contain a message similar to the following:

System.ServiceModel.AddressAlreadyInUseException: The TransportManager failed to listen on the supplied URI using the NetTcpPortSharing service: the service failed to listen.

Cause

This problem can occur if the NetTcpPortSharing service is not running, or if it was started after an adTempus instance was already running.

Resolution

From the Services tool, stop any running instances of the adTempus service. Then restart the NetTcpPortSharing service, or start it if it is not running. Then start adTempus.

If you are unable to start the NetTcpPortSharing service (for example, due to policy restrictions) you can configure adTempus to not use it, but in this scenario you can only run one instance of the adTempus service (any version) on the computer. See article K00000647 for more information.
