This article explains how to get help if the database upgrade fails while upgrading from adTempus 2.x or 3.x to adTempus 4.

After you upgrade adTempus from version 2.x or 3.x to version 4, the Database Configuration Wizard will upgrade the adTempus database to version 4. This requires significant and complex changes to the adTempus database.

If the database upgrade process fails, the database wizard will display one or more of the following messages:

Database upgrade failed. Please contact technical support for assistance

The original database has not been restored, because the conversion can resume from this point once the conversion problem is resolved. However, the database is not currently usable by any version of adTempus. If you want to revert to the previous adTempus version, you will need to restore the database from backup file C:\Program Files\Arcana Development\adTempus\instances\default\data\database\backup\adtempus_XXX_backup_YYY_schemaZZZ.bak

Database setup failed. Review messages above and contact technical support for assistance if required.

Depending on where the problem occurred, the database wizard may or may not roll back the updates using the database backup file. However, even if the database updates are rolled back, the version 4 software remains installed.

In most cases users will not be able to resolve any issues that occur during this process without assistance from Arcana Development. For help, please open a support case and include the "adtdbconfig.log" file found in the "logs" directory under the directory where the "adtdbconfig.exe" program is found (generally "c:\program files\arcana development\adTempus\4.0\logs").

If possible, also include the database backup file created by the database configuration wizard at the beginning of the upgrade process. Please ZIP the file before including it with your support request.
