Each Report Commander license allows you to install and run Report Commander on a single computer. If you wish to move your copy of Report Commander to a different computer, you must transfer your license to that computer as well.
Transferring your license involves "returning" the license from the old computer to your license account and then reusing that license to activate the software on the new computer.
Returning the license from the old computer
Before you can "activate" Report Commander on the new computer, you must return the license from the old computer to your license account.
If Report Commander is still installed on the old computer
If you still have Report Commander installed on the old computer, return your license by running the License Manager from the Report Commander program group. In the License Manager, select your Report Commander license and then select the Remove License command from the License menu and follow the steps in the License Return Wizard.
Alternatively, you can uninstall Report Commander, and you will be asked during the uninstallation process if you want to return your license.
If Report Commander has been removed from the old computer
During the uninstallation process, the setup program prompted you to return your license for that computer to your account. If you did so, no further action is necessary.
If you did not return your license during the uninstallation, you must use the online license management system to return your license.
- Log in using your License Account number (sent to you in your original licensing message from Arcana Development)
- Locate Report Commander in the list of products, then choose List/Manage Licenses from the Select Action menu.
- Locate the license you want to return and select Return license to account from the Select Action menu.
- Follow the online instructions to return your license.
Activating the software on the new computer
During installation, the setup program will prompt you to activate your software using your License Account number. Follow the instructions presented by the licensing program to activate the software.
If you already installed Report Commander in evaluation mode, you can activate the software using the License Manager program in the Report Commander program group. In the License Manager, choose Activate Software from the License menu and follow the steps in the License Activation Wizard.
Temporarily running the software on both computers
If you need to continue running the software on the old computer for a short time, leave the license on the old computer until you are finished using the software on that computer. On the new computer, you can get a 30-day temporary license to use until you are finished with the old computer. To do this, run the License Manager and select Get Temporary License from the License menu.
When you are ready to transfer your license permanently, follow the procedures described above to make the transfer.
