Summary

When you use the Schedule Administrator client and attempt to connect to the Arcana Scheduler on a remote computer, you get the following error:

Could not communicate with Arcana Scheduler Service: Logon Failure: the user has not yet been granted the requested logon type at this computer. Schedule could not be read

This occurs because the client user does not have permission to connect to the server across the network. This is a function of Windows security and is separate from any Arcana Scheduler security settings you may have made.

More Information

To correct this you must grant the client user the "Access this computer from the network" right.

On Windows NT 4.0:

  1. Run the User Manager (Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, User Manager).
  2. Select Policies from the User Rights menu.
  3. Select the "Access this computer from network" right.
  4. If the user in question is not listed, and is not a member of any of the listed groups, add the user or an appropriate group.

On Windows 2000/XP:

  1. Open the Local Security Policy (Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Local Security Policy)
  2. Under Local Policies go to User Rights Assignment.
  3. Display the properties for the "Access this computer from the network" right.
  4. If the user in question is not listed, and is not a member of any of the listed groups, add the user or an appropriate group.

Note that this change only allows the user to connect to the computer across the network; it does not grant any access to the user.
