Summary

By default, the Arcana Scheduler allows only members of the computer's Administrators group to connect and administer the Scheduler.

If additional users are granted permission to administer the Scheduler (using the Configuration Editor tool), Administrators are no longer granted access by default.

More Information

Once you have manually added security groups in the Configuration Editor, the Scheduler no longer allows Administrators to connect by default. To allow Administrators to connect to the Scheduler they must be explicitly granted access.

Two approaches are possible.

  1. Using the Windows User Manager, make  the Administrators group a member of the security group you have just granted schedule administration privileges to.
  2. Using the Scheduler's Configuration Editor, explicitly grant permissions to the Administrators group:

  • In the Security Groups section of the Configuration Editor, click the New button.
  • In the Security Group Properties window:

    • Specify the Group Name as "Administrators".
    • Select the "Use NT Security Group" authentication method.
    • Enter "BUILTIN\Administrators" for the NT security group.
    • Click OK to add the new group.

  • Save the changes you have made in the Configuration Editor.
  • Stop and restart the Arcana Scheduler service so it recognizes the changes.
