Summary

When the Arcana Scheduler is used to start a Microsoft Access application, Access displays an error similar to the following:

Microsoft Access cannot change the working directory to h:\data\access. Verify that the drive is valid and the path is 260 characters or less in

length.

The error occurs even though the database you are trying to open is not on the network drive referenced in the error message.

Workaround

This error occurs when the Default database folder defined for Access is not accessible. In the case above, the Default database folder has been set to "h:\data\access." If the H: drive is not mapped when the Scheduler starts the Access application, the error occurs.

To resolve the problem, set the Default database folder to a local folder (e.g., a folder on drive C:). To change this option in Access, select Options from the Tools menu, then go to the General page.
