Automated Processing for Crystal Reports

Report Commander 2 Now Available

Report Commander 2 was released on April 10, 2015.

Report Commander 2 allows you to move away from the command-line-driven style of Report Commander 1 by using Projects instead. Projects make it easier to manage settings for your reports, and also allow you to process as many reports and produce as many exports as you want in a single "task." E-mail distribution allows you to send any combination of outputs produced within a project.

For users who prefer (or require) the command-line-only automation of version 1, that capability remains, and all your existing Report Commander execution commands will continue to work. The Command Line Builder has been enhanced to allow you to reverse-engineer command lines into the Command Line Builder, so you don't have to start over from scratch if you want to use the Builder to modify an existing command line.

Report Commander now uses the latest Crystal Reports runtime components, with support for the Excel XLSX format.

Support for e-mail distribution lists has been added, making it easier to e-mail reports to groups of people.

User-defined variables and built-in functions  make it easy to use predefined text and calculated values in report parameters, file names, etc. Functions make it easy to insert calculated dates like the current date, beginning of month, etc.

Mail server settings can now be saved in a shared configuration for use by all projects or commands, so you don't have to include that information with every command line you run.

SFTP is now supported for file uploads.
